Molly Varga Smith and Craig Tessyman Present the 2026 Update on Rabbit Gut Stasis (RGIS) at London Vet Show: What Still Works and What Has Evolved
Molly Varga Smith and Craig Tessyman team up at the London Vet Show to improve clinical outcomes for small pets
Molly Varga Smith BVetMed DZooMed (Mammalian) MRCVS, RCVS Recognised Specialist in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine and Veterinary Advisor to Supreme Petfoods, will be presenting a talk at the London Vet Show on Thursday 19th November. Entitled “Gut Stasis (RGIS): The 2026 Update – What Still Works and What Has Evolved,” the talk will take place from 14:40-15:30 in Gallery Suite 11-12.
The session, sponsored by Supreme Petfoods, will also feature Craig Tessyman CertAPVN(Zoo) DipVNZS RVN, Exotics Nurse at The Exotic Animal Vets, Manchester. Together, Molly and Craig will cover diagnosis and medical/surgical treatments of gut stasis in rabbits. Many of the traditional therapies are falling out of favour so will will look at the evidence (or lack thereof) of the medications we commonly use. The session will cover decision making for RGIS cases, allowing the clinician to become more confident in terms of when to recommend medical or surgical interventions.
- Understand which medications to use in uncomplicated RGIS
- Understand when to advise medical rather than surgical therapy
- Understand what the prognostic indicators are and how to interpret changes
